A whale sunning!

So, it's getting quite warm these days in Honduras--and we're only in February (which is supposed to be a mild month). And maybe it is, but this pregnant lady is having hot flashes by noon everyday! So, we went to the pool this past weekend. What a refreshing dip--even if my tankini is rather quickly becoming a bikini.

However, the highlight of our pool time was meeting a big time former professional soccer player now turned scout: Danny Karbassiyoon. Now I'm not much of a soccer follower, but this guy played for Arsenal...and apparently that's a pretty good team in England. I wish our soccer fanatic friend, Joseph Arockia, could have been there. Danny was a southerner like us (from Virginia), and was down here for a week checking out some players. Pretty interesting fellow--and of course we googled him to find out more when we got home.

On the pregnancy side of things, I've discovered something very interesting about Hondurans. They love pregnant ladies! I mean, I am smiled at everywhere I go. And the women swear by their theory of figuring out the baby's gender. Apparently, if you carry the baby only in the front, it's a boy. If you carry there and everywhere else, it's a girl. Well, I'm mostly carrying in the front (and hiding as best as I can what's going on in the back!), and I constantly overhear Spanish conversations like "Ella tiene un baron," or "Es un baron, si?" Now to see if their other theory comes true: will my nose become swollen like the rest of my body will in this heat? The Hondurans assure me this is so. Hmmm....

Party in the front...

(Don't look too close at me, but you can see our soccer pals in the back)

you look so so cute! absolutely beautiful. I totally hear you about the swelling though! that was one of the absolute worst things about my pregnancy. You could poke my legs and see your finger print there for like 30 seconds. gross. hope yours isn't as bad! I miss you and wish that we were still neighbors so I could see you every single day!!
