My parents had no idea that when they accepted the invitation to come to the Roberts' lakehouse for Easter they'd be driving alongside a tornado! They had little idea of what was going on around them until they were pummeled by rain...and then Abbie (Colin's sister was riding with them) noticed the green cloud above them. They quickly pulled over at a gas station, piled inside the walk-in cooler with a bunch of other frightened strangers, the doors were locked, and then they waited. Of course, Dad waited outside in the car. (He's fearless...and he had no idea about the tornado--he's yet to experience the joys my mother does from the I-phone). 10 tornadoes touched down around the area--from Nashville to Murfreesborro. When they arrived at the lakehouse, we rejoiced and then watched with shock as the footage of the storms rolled across the news screen.
Well, after we got over the initial "Ok...you're all alive!" we got down to the business of eating my first ever gluten-free lasagna. I was pretty proud of myself--no one could tell the difference! The weekend was spent with much eating, lounging about, wii games (mostly b/w my bro Dave and Colin), and spending the ole' quality time with the family. It's been since our wedding day (5+ years ago) that this has occurred--time with both families at once. We missed seeing my other brother and his beautiful wife, Megs (with baby Noah on the way) and Colin's sister, Jenna-Clare and her family. We dealt with our grief by eating Mom's Jack Daniel's chocolate pecan pie. Amen to that!
Now, we're back in the swing of things (kind of...Colin's already on another trip to see his old college buddies for their reunion). Honduras looms before us rather closely now. July 28th folks. And then I think you'll see some clever posts from mi espouso.

Hi Elisa, Tornadoes sound like fun! I can't wait to try your GF lasagna! I am so much happier without gluten!
at first when I read the title I thought it said April Showers bring Tomatoes. ha.
I'll bring the GF goodies down to Honduras and we'll have dinner many a time.
