Happy New Year! We have a lot to catch up on but I'll make it brief with a little assortment of pictures and then we can truly begin our blog relationship again.
For Thanksgiving, we finally traveled to Roatan--the "jewel" of Honduras. It's a strange way to spend Turkey Day, for sure, but when some of the best snorkeling on the planet is 30 meters off the beach, you can deal with it.
One highlight was throwing up on the plane. Pregnant ladies don't do well with no AC. So, once we hit the tarmac on our layover, they rolled this bad boy out and blasted oxygen down the aisle...But too little, too late.
Then, just before Christmas, we celebrated our 7th anniversary. Time flies. Colin gifted me with some gorgeous Mayan jewelry. They like to go big with the bling down here but he found some stuff that was just right.
Then, as many of you did, we got a beautiful White Christmas back in Tennessee with those that we love. Our time was way too short this year. It's always wonderful to go home but it's becoming a bit harder to leave and return to Honduras these days. Home seems to be calling.
And it was really fun to start acting like a mommy. (I could let my mom rub my belly for hours) The reality that this baby is the real thing is becoming more real everyday. It's so delightful to feel him kick and roll, to feel him respond to Colin's voice, and to just enjoy the phase.
As I said, leaving the States was extremely hard this time, especially after a terrific New Year's soiree with our good buddies in Knoxville. But, our parents kissed us and managed to let go again and we staggered onto the plane in the dark. (I cried myself to sleep on the way to Houston)
And all of a sudden we were back in Tegus with our other good third world buddies. Back in our comfy bed. Back in our noisy classrooms. Back with our crappy Kia Sephia. Back...home.
This spring promises to be interesting, as I'm going into the third trimester and home stretch of the pregnancy (plus, this is the time of year in Honduras when everyone starts burning everything in sight).
So, here's some more pics. We'll be back on the blog soon, I promise. Much more to discuss.
Be well, friends
